ABOUT

Our days at The Language Garden follow a structured rhythm of free play and set activities.

This rhythm is at the heart of everything we do, giving children a sense of security, certainty and confidence throughout their day.

Fees & Funding

Language Garden is a private and independent setting and as such we do

not fall within Ofsted's compulsory registration criteria.

However, for parents' peace of mind we are voluntarily registered, which

means that we are open to Ofsted inspection.

We offer a nurturing environment and high-quality language tuition,

but we are not formally a nursery and operate on a part-time basis so

children can also spend time at their English nursery of choice.

Team

We are a professional and caring team of native German speakers, most with backgrounds in education and teaching.

All members of our team are carefully recruited and particularly selected for their suitability to work with children and their families. Usually two to three teachers are present throughout a session.

We are fully insured, DBS checked, Safeguarding trained and hold Paediatric First Aid and Food Safety and Hygiene certificates.

Anja – Founder/Director

Born and raised in Germany, I studied primary teaching before travelling as a professional percussionist through Europe, West Africa and the United States. After settling in the UK. I worked as a senior events and marketing manager and qualified as a nutritionist. Having become a mum, it was very important to me that my children grew up bilingual and I became involved in setting up the German Saturday School Brighton & Hove, which I co-chaired for four years.

During that time, the dream of creating a community of bilingual families was born. From that, grew the idea of setting up a German kindergarten. I opened the doors of our house in Kemptown for children in 2014 and four years later, we had grown so big that I looked for new premises. In the summer of 2018 my dream for a big, sunny new home for the Language Garden, surrounded by nature, came true and we moved to the beautiful old village school premises in Falmer.
